New Horizons is the 2022-2023 installment of my Lifeline quilt series of Textiles.
As my final creative act before leaving my post in the KU textile department, I dyed dozens of yards of fabrics to tide me over in my transition ‘to the next place,’ and then pieced the king-sized quilt face and reverse using large fields color in of cozy flannel. I unified the pieces just enough to hold them together with the KU longarm sewing machine, then I set the intention to finish them at the next place, which would involve the remainder of the quilting process, plus a key division: cutting two quilts from the one.
Here they are on two beds, mid process, before their separation.

I chose to keep the compositions of the quilts open and expansive, to mark the season of new horizons Sheldon and I were entering.
